The District Champion Softball Playoff Game is Friday, April 24 at Lubbock Coronado High School Softball Field at 6:30 p.m. against Shallowater. Muleshoe is the visiting team. Admission will be $4.00 for adults and $2.00 for students. Lubbock Coronado High School is on 34th Street in Lubbock between Quaker and Slide.

West Texas Sports Medicine Contest
The Muleshoe Sports Medicine Program hosted the 2nd Annual West Texas Sports Medicine Competition last week and walked away with the team championship, for the second year in a row. The competition grew this year to over 100 students from 7 different high schools ranging from class 3A to 6A.The students are grouped into two divisions (beginner & advanced) based upon their experience levels within the sports medicine program.
The following students were ranked in the Top 10 of their respective divisions:

Ag Mechanics Projects
This year the Ag mechanics classes have constructed many agricultural projects in the Career and Technology classes. Students have put countless hours of work into each of the projects. All projects are designed and constructed in class and then given to the sponsors or constructed for the student’s personal use. Projects start in November and are usually completed in February where they are then exhibited at state contest including San Antonio and San Angelo. Participants in the projects are:

Muleshoe High School wins District UIL Academic Competition
Muleshoe High School competed in the District UIL Academic Meet on April 8. They finished in first place. Points for top teams were: Muleshoe 372, Shallowater 369, and Friona 275. Way to go UIL teams!

Muleshoe High School Receives the Support Music Merit Award
Muleshoe High School received the Support Music Merit Award as part of The Best Communities for Music Education program.
The National Association of Music Merchants Foundation (NAMM) and University of Kansas have recognized 388 School Districts in 46 states with the 2015 Best Communities for Music Education Designation. The Best Communities for Music Education Award acknowledges schools and districts across the United States for their commitment to and support of music education. In addition to these 388 districts, 120 Individual Schools across the nation have been awarded the Support Music Merit Award (SMMA), which recognizes support for school-based music education programs
ENMU 6th Annual Juried Youth Art Exhbition
Eastern New Mexico University in Portales announces the juried results of K through 12 of the 6th Annual Juried Youth Art Exhibition as part of National Youth Art Month in March.
The Runnels Gallery (located within the ENMU Golden Library) received over 225 submissions to this year’s exhibition. Art students choose for the exhibit were: Francisco Elizalde-Colored Pencil Drawing, Letti Loya, Mixed Media, and Ruby Andrade - Ceramic Bowl. Letti Loya won 2nd place in the High School Divison.

District 2-AAA Golf Tournament
The MHS golf teams played Monday in the first round of the district 2-AAA golf tournament.
The boys team is in fourth place after 1 round.
Conner Harrison is the leader of the district medalist race with a score of 80. Tony Castillo shot 112, Jesse Leal shot 125 and Dustin Stearmer shot 133. The Mules play the 2nd round of district on April 6 at Tulia.
The girls team is in 2nd place after 1 round. Sadie Sudduth is in second place in the individual race with a score of 101. Sydnie Sudduth is in 5th place with a score of 112. Miranda DeBruin shot 122, Emily Precure shot 126 and Gabby Chavez shot 126. The Lady Mules will play the 2nd round on April 6 at Muleshoe.

The Lady Mules won Area Championship against Brownfield on Friday night with a score of 63-61.
Muleshoe Art Students Win 26 Gold Metals and One Student Advances to State
VASE(Visual Art Scholastic Event) is the culminating event of a year of hard work and creative genius of the art students in Texas.
Muleshoe High School participated this year at Frenship High School on Saturday, February 21.
Lariat Adams received a Gold Medal and was chosen from the Gold Medal recipients to go to the VASE State competition in Dallas.

Muleshoe Choir Student to Sing at Carnegie Hall
Blayne Shipman is singing as first bass in the National Honor Choir at the 2015 High School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall in New York City on February 22. This National Honor Choir will be under the direction of famous conductor, Dr. Eph Ely.
Three Athletes Sign with Colleges
Keagan Gonzales, Wesley Clarkson, and Dustin committed to colleges on Wednesday, February 3. Keagan Gonzales signed with Oklahoma Panhandle State University's football team. Wesley Clarkson signed with Vernon College's baseball team. Dustin Smith is committed to play college football at Eastern New Mexico University.

State Cross Country Qualifier
Evan Paez qualified for the State Cross Country meet in Round Rock by running a 17:02; his personal best! There were 163 runners representing Class 3A in our region. Evan will compete at the State Cross Country Meet in Round Rock on, Nov. 8th.
Jazmine Garza competed in the Regional Meet; Jazmine finished her cross country season with a great time of 14:04. There were 175 lady athletes competing for a top 10 finish.
